BIOGRAPHY

Colin Hutton was born in Glasgow.  He trained as a photographer and film-maker at Bournemouth College of Art & Design. In 1995 he won a Fulbright Fellowship in Screenwriting  and spent a year in the USA, under the mentorship of William Goldman (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid).

He has worked as a screenwriter for some of the UK’s leading film and television companies, including the BBC, Channel 4, Ridley Scott Associates, Tiger Aspect, Carlton, Discovery Channel, Scottish Screen, and Granada TV.

His short film 'Gravity' (which Colin also directed) screened at over 25 film festivals around the world including Melbourne, Milan, London, Tehran, Buenos Aires, Berlin and Manhattan, picking up two Best Short Film awards along the way.  In 2006 Colin directed 'Stir it Up', a half hour drama for IWC Media & Channel 4 Television. It was pick of the day in both Time Out & The Sunday Times.

Colin continues to write but now makes his living from photography and works across many sectors of the industry from portraits to film-stills, magazine commissions to images for book covers. Clients include: Haymarket Publications, BBC, Kudos Film & TV, ITV, PSPrare Publishing, RDF/Touchpaper, Working Title Films, Borkowski, Story Worldwide Ltd, Random House & Pan Macmillan.

In November 2008 Colin successfully staged his first solo exhibition, Human Views at Gallery 5 in Notting Hill, London.

Colin's work is regularly selected for Exhibitions. In 2009 two of his images featured in the Royal Photographic Society's International Print Exhibition. He also had two images selected for Association of Photographers Open Exhibition and the Renaissance Photography Prize 2009; judged by Martin Parr & Eamonn McCabe.
